exploratory work with locally sourced materials

This is work that has come out of The Watershed Project and is the start of exploratory work- initially on a small scale but in anticipation of larger more complex work.

The pieces play with contrasting texture, colour, and weight, and technique, often referencing the land. The wool is very local and I’m hand spinning it using black, “Shetland” wool and cream, “Wensleydale” wool; the stone and slate, is rescued from the farm where I grew up. I am exploiting the potential of the materials, giving them new roles, subverting their character and playing with different combinations to offer a fresh perspective. Small stones often represent bigger, landscape sized rocks and act like maquettes.

Commissions start at £40 for the slate drawings,

£70 for the mini-scaffolding bell jars , £80 if figures are customised as portraits (choose figure & clothing)
