Case study – Skelton’s Lane park project

I have worked on many parks with landscape designers/ architects, running creative consultation with local park users, followed by workshops creating artwork which is permanently installed.

Skeltons Lane, London E10
funded by Waltham Forest Council and won the Local Government New Street Design Awards, 2009 (children’s play category)

I worked closely with landscape designer Rachel Mooney (www.mohdesign.co.uk) whose brief included linking the park with the adjacent city farm. Together with a group of young adults with learning difficulties, we cast the hoof prints of the farm animals – then created their tracks in the wet poured concrete. We also visited local SEN schools to consult about the park and ran workshops to create artwork in resin and concrete. This work was embedded into the fabric of the park, creating personal, intriguing moments to discover, offering a real sense of ownership to the community.
